Join us for this hands-on class with our friend and neighbor Lonnie Newburn of The Boston Shaker and take a deep dive into the history and use of bitters. They are a wonderful way to add spices and aromatics to your cocktails and zero-proof drinks. With Lonnie as your guide, and access to a wide array of Curio spices, you’ll create a bottle of your own bitters during class and go home with a new passion for capturing flavors in this time-honored fashion.

Lonnie Newburn is the owner and operator of The Boston Shaker; the nation's neighborhood cocktail supply shop located in Davis Square, Somerville, MA. The company was founded in 2008 to provide professionals and home bartenders with quality, hard to find cocktail tools, ingredients, glassware and literature to create better cocktails and mocktails. Before becoming the Store Manager in 2016 purchasing the business in 2018, Newburn helped run other Boston based start-ups including Ball and Buck, a Men's clothing company located on Newbury St. and GrandTen Distilling, a craft distillery located in South Boston. With a background in business management, he has brought his bartending experience and a renewed passion for modern mixology, while expanding the shop's product range and educational offerings. The Boston Shaker's team of cocktail consultants remains dedicated to sharing the amazing world of cocktails with savvy sippers in Boston and beyond.
